The PHP counter stores all the information in a text file and therefore does not need a database. This version is suitable for smaller web pages or for web page operators who do not have a database available.
The counter needs PHP to be operated.
The installation consists only of copying the counter.php and counter.gif into the homepage directory.
Your counter can then be incorporated via
<?php include "counter.php"; ?>
in the page.
Should the homepage work with several directory levels then the route to the file needs to be specified in counter.php at the very top under the file name depending on the set up of your page.
Please do not forget to set up the file access rights. Some providers require files to be explicitly provided with a write authorisation. The counter then installs a .txt file to store the counter values.

The advertising in the counter may only be removed when you purchase a license.
